For you youngsters, believe it or not, MTV used to stand for Music Television. Not sure what it stands for now. My Television Vomits? Okay, so that doesn’t roll off the tongue (well, yeah, it kind of does). Hey, accuracy counts.

MTV used to play music videos. You know, like YouTube does now. Thing is the videos back then were phenomenal. It was a new medium which meant it was competitive and artists actually pushed themselves to excel and stand out. Basically music videos were the 80s version of the tweet. So here’s a page dedicated to music videos.

Kick-off with the seminal 1980s music video. It’s the 1986 MTV Video Award of Year winner, “Money For Nothing,” by Dire Straits. Enjoy.
